“Just an observation, my thoughts. I have watched my hometown turn into a metropolitan suburb of Atlanta. I read the arrest log in the Newnan Times-Herald and see the crime that has made its way into our county.
I do not understand who failed to teach many of you right from wrong when you were younger. I can’t believe your parents didn’t wear your bottom out as you grew up. So many of you are rude and disrespectful young individuals. Robbing our department stores, selling or buying drugs, stealing cars, going in and tearing down racks of clothes, and leaving them on the floor. This is not a job.
Many immigrants who come into our county work hard. They take on any type of job to raise their families, put food on the table, and show respect to one another. They do lawn care, clean houses, and take on the jobs many others aren’t willing to do.
There should be a sign as you enter Coweta County that says: “If you’ve come to steal or do drugs, keep on passing through.” We are sick of the trash that has turned Newnan into what it is today.
We need to stand up for our city and county and make it safe again. Neighbors helping neighbors. Making sure our youth know there are consequences for their bad behavior. We as parents should take that job seriously.
I could never imagine disrespecting an elder in my day. It seems to happen more and more each day. I’m basing this on my ten years in retail. We all should come together to protect and care for our community.
Thank you for allowing me to express my observation of what Newnan has become.”
