Riverlife
Melanie is a Georgia girl, born and raised in the suburbs of Atlanta. With a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from LaGrange College and a Masters of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary, she has a heart for connecting local churches to the needs of the communities they serve.
Melanie and her husband, Bill, served as pastors in several churches before coming to Newnan in 2007 with their three children who are now 25, 22 and 20. Now proud empty nesters and new grandparents, they have a great love and appreciation for Newnan and Coweta County.
Melanie and Bill founded RiverLife in 2014, where she continues to serve as Executive Director. The seeds of RiverLife were planted years earlier through Melanie’s two decades of ministry experience, her firsthand awareness of critical community needs, and her passion for mobilizing others to serve. RiverLife’s mission is simple yet powerful: to change lives by identifying critical needs in the community and equipping volunteers to serve with deep compassion and wide reaching impact.
Today, RiverLife partners with nonprofits, churches, and community organizations to provide wheelchair ramps, home repairs, and yard cleanups for neighbors in need—empowering volunteers to serve in ways that restore dignity, accessibility, and hope.
Mission Statement
RiverLife’s mission is simple yet powerful: to change lives by identifying critical needs in the community and equipping volunteers to serve with deep compassion and wide reaching impact.
We partner with nonprofits and other organizations in our community to identify people in need of yard cleanup, exterior home repair and wheelchair ramp access. Our RiverLife team coordinates and leads these opportunities for volunteers to create a meaningful experience for those serving and to safely and respectfully meet the needs of those served.
