Bridging The Gap
BTG Community Outreach began in 2009 as a grassroots effort by Alison Wallace, who distributed food to the homeless from her van. Driven by compassion, she aimed to meet immediate needs and support long-term solutions. By 2011, BTG had grown into an official nonprofit organization.
Starting on Lee Street, BTG served the homeless and families in need from its “storehouse” of food and essentials. As demand grew, the organization moved to its current location. BTG’s mission expanded to include personalized support, and in 2016, the hiring of Craig Buchanan and Jeremiah Butler formalized its client services department for more structured assistance.
Leadership transitions saw John Melia as interim director in 2017, followed by Kelli Yeager-Nelson in 2019, who broadened BTG’s outreach. In October 2024, Jamar Joiner became Executive Director, bringing fresh vision to BTG’s mission.
BTG remains dedicated to providing resources, fostering hope, and building stronger, more resilient communities.
